    Schloss Hugenpoet is a fairytale castle in the south of Essen.

    If you would like to feel like a prince or princess for a day or two, you should plan a stay here. This 17th century moated castle consists of the main house and several outbuildings. Hugenpoet is also the home of the restaurant Laurushaus, which holds a Michelin star as well as the Hugenpöttchen, which has earned a Michelin bib gourmand. The parks and buildings are listed monuments and all are still owned by the family Fürst zu Fürstenberg. At the beginning of December, an advent market (Nikolausmarkt) attracts visitors looking for special seasonal gifts.

    From Düsseldorf:
    A52 in the direction of Essen/Oberhausen to Kreuz Breitscheid, exit Rat.-Breitscheid, 200 m to traffic lights, get into the right lane in the direction of Velbert (B 227); 1.8 km to roundabout (ESSO and BP), turn left in the direction of E-Kettwig; after 1.3 km turn left in the direction of E-Kettwig, after 3.3 km entrance to the hotel (observe right of way).

    From Cologne or Oberhausen:
    A 3 Kreuz Breitscheid towards Essen, keep right, exit Rat.-Breitscheid, 200 m to traffic lights, keep right towards Velbert (B 227); 1.8 km to roundabout (ESSO and BP), turn left towards E-Kettwig; after 1.3 km turn left towards E-Kettwig, after 3.3, km entrance to hotel (give way).

    From Essen:
    Motorway A52 in the direction of Düsseldorf, exit Essen-Kettwig, turn right in the direction of E-Kettwig; through Kettwig (in the direction of Düsseldorf) over the Ruhr bridge. At the end of the town keep right in the direction of Düsseldorf; after 1.2 km turn right into the entrance to the hotel.
