Located between Lake Barbara and Lake Berta in Duisburg Sports Park, the regatta course is a unique rowing competition venue. At 2,180 meters long and 120 meters wide, this former quarry has already witnessed numerous major competitions, including the 1989 Universiade and the Canoe Sprint World Championships, which were held here as recently as 2023. A few weeks after this sporting event was over, scaffolding was raised and bulldozers moved in as part of a comprehensive 30 million euro renovation program to ensure the regatta course remains one of the most popular venues for rowing competitions in the world.
